I am currently in the middle of working on some pieces that more or less involve the act of appropriation. I find it coincidental that all these pieces, probably around half a dozen or so, use sourced video imagery. I am not interested in using appropriation as a method or means to make work, that factor is a smaller piece of the larger idea. Simultaneously I have become progressively more interested in video as an actually malable material. As opposed to my prior way of work with video as merely a way to quickly memorialize a task or activity I am now finding myself interested in the use of high quality video, and it's properties, such as the aspect ratio, frame rate, etc. as a specific medium. My use of sourced video imagery, is not a means to an end, but largely, to express some greater moment, or concept, that arrises from the footage.
